While Scamper Campers and Kiddie Kapers remain close to the comfort of the "Y",
this program offers lots of social interaction. Enjoy active and quiet games, sing songs,
crafts, gym activities, special events and swimming.
New this year for children between 6 and 7 years of age, bi-monthly sleepover!!! The
sleepovers will take place every second Thursday Nights for a small additional fee of
$15.00.
Junior Picasso Camp (5-7 yrs)

This program is a petite version of the Arts Alive Program. Emphasis will be
placed on learning the basics of art, utilizing creative abilities to explore the art from
within.
Small Fry Soccer Camp (5-7 yrs)

A program specifically developed for the 90s soccer player. Learn proper skills,
rules and techniques in a comfortable environment, with the emphasis placed on safety,
skill and fun!
Junior Sports Camp (5-7 yrs)

A program specifically developed for individuals wishing to improve their athletic
abilities. Learn proper rules and techniques in a safe environment, with the emphasis

A program specifically developed for the young journalist! Participants will visit local
media work environments and will be given the opportunity to explore his/her creative
abilities in an educational environment.

A program specifically developed to introduce young children to the wonderful world of
computers. Participants will participate in a 90s focused program in an education
environment.
The Young John Travolta Camp (5-7 yrs)

A program specifically developed to develop flexibility, coordination and balance in a
safe environment. A qualified instructor will motivate participants to dance to their
hearts content!
YOUTH CAMPS: AGES 8 to 12 years
Adventure Camp (8-12 yrs)

For young people who are looking for new challenges. This program includes: hiking, field
games, environmental activities, camping and an overnight excursion.
Arts Alive Camp (8-12 yrs)
When? Week 6

A fine camp for beginners and more experienced artists. This will offer a wonderful
collage of "ART EXPERIENCE". This camp includes a visit to a local art gallery.
Basketball Camp (8-12 yrs)

Cost? $55.00/week 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Its game time! Learn rules, strategies, skills and scrimmages that make up this
educational and fun camp. Learn fair play and have hands on game experience with this
camp.
Dance Camp (8-12 yrs)

Cost? $55.00/week 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Its time to get out those dancing shoes! Learn the basics of jazz, ballet and modern
dance moves. This camp will assist individuals in the development of balance, coordination
and posture in a safe and educational setting.
Canoe & Kayak Camp (8-12 yrs)
When? Weeks 2, 4, 6 and 8

Have fun at the Canoe Club while learning the basics of canoeing and kayaking from a YMCA
Instructor. Each child should be able to swim. This is a popular camp for those who love
the outdoors. Emphasis is on safe boating.
Computer camp (8-12 yrs)

Computer Camp returns again this year. This half day program is designed to introduce
participants to the updated world of computers via current software and access to the
internet.
Camp Envogue (8-12 yrs)

Creative kids will love this camp. Your child will be introduced to the exciting world of
drama through a number of activities. A tour of the Sudbury Theatre Centre will be part of
this camp.
Golf Camp (8-12 yrs)
When? Weeks 1, 4, and 8

Back again by popular demand! Learn the basics of the sport of golf from putting to
driving in the YMCA Golf Program. Golf etiquette, technique and YMCA values will be the
highlights of the program. Campers must provide their own clubs.
Gymnastics Club (8-12 yrs)
When? Weeks 3, 5, 7 and 9

This summer program is designed to provide your child with basic fundamentals of
gymnastics on a large variety of equipment, such as: beam, bars, floor, vault and the
trampoline. All staff are certified Gymnastics Coaches with at least a level one theory
and practical.
Media Camp (8-12 yrs)

Stop the presses! Here is an exciting camp for every child interested in exploring the
world of television, radio and newspaper. Visit the MCTV studio, and step inside a live
radio DJ booth. Be a part of the action by becoming a part of Media Madness.
Raquet Camp (8-12 yrs)

Where? YMCA, Tennis Bubble and Brebeuf Tennis Courts

This action packed morning features such activities as Squash, Tennis, Badminton and Table
Tennis. Your child will learn the basics of Racquet Sports all under the supervision of
qualified Coaches.

Here comes a camp for the sports phenatic! Golf, wrestling, kung fu, bocce, squash, beach
games, volleyball and soccer will highlight this program. The emphasis will be on fair
play and team etiquette. This camp is non-stop action. Campers must provide their own
clubs for golf.
The Blast Off Camp (8-12 yrs)

Copper Cliff Camp (5-12 yrs)

Looking for a Day Camp program that has it all? Look no further. This camp has a number of
special outings and guests. Swimming at Dow Pool, outdoor activities
1st child pay full fee, each additional child receives a $5.00 discount on full
day camps and $2.50 for ½ day camps for each week registered. Members receive a $5.00
discount for full day weekly programs and $2.50 for half day full week programs.
AQUATICS PROGRAMS: 6 to 15 years
Aqua Camp (8-12 yrs)

A water camp to introduce children to a number of water sports, games and activities.
Participants will all work towards completing YMCA Learn to Swim and Star Program levels.
Speed Swimming Camp (6-12 yrs)

A water camp developed to introduce children to speed swimming. Participants will all work
towards learning stroke technique for front crawl, back crawl, breast stroke and
butterfly. Participants will work towards learning starts, turns and completing Esso Swim
levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold).
Junior Lifeguard Camp (8-12 yrs)

Junior Lifeguard Camp is for children who want an exciting challenge or earning lifesaving
awards.
Synchro Recreational Camp (8-15 yrs)

Have fun learning the basics of synchronized swimming at the YMCA. Participants will work
towards improving stroke technique, learning figures and putting routine skills together
with music.
Special Notes:
Extended care is available between 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 to 5:30
p.m. at no extra cost. Arrangements beyond these hours can be made for $5.00/half
hour/child.
Family Rate:1st child pay full fee, each additional child
receives a $5.00 discount on full day camps and $2.50 for ½ day camps for each week
registered. Members receive a $5.00 discount for full day weekly programs and $2.50 for
half day full week programs.
Refunds for medical reasons only and a $10.00 administration fee will
be charged or a credit memo for the full amount for another camp.
Programs may be cancelled due to lack of participants on the
Wednesday prior to the program start. Full refunds will be given or a credit memo for
another camp.
Programs will not run on Statutory & Civic Holidays. Camps will
be pro-rated by $10.00
Special needs children are welcomes with a Leisure Buddy.
Participants registration form must be filled out upon
registration.
Please label all clothes and containers.
Bring swim suit, bathing cap, towel, sunscreen and a lunch.
Day camp fees are all inclusive with no extra charges.
All N.S.F. cheques are subject to a $25.00 fee.
All staff are CPR and First Aid qualified.
Day Camper ratios are as follows: 3 to 5 years a 1:6 ratio; 6 to 7
years a 1:8 ratio and 8 to 12 years a 1:10 ratio.
Transportation fee $15.00 extra per child and will only be provided
numbers permitting.
- Sleepovers for Scamper Camp and the Blast Off Camp will take place on
Thursday evenings. There is an additional $15.00 fee for this.
